How much heating oil do I need?
This page is being written. We only publish figures and details once we have checked them at their source.
Litres to order = tank capacity × (the level you want − the level you have now).
For example, a 1,000-litre tank at 25% filled to 90% needs 1,000 × (0.90 − 0.25) = 650 litres. Your tank's capacity is usually on a label on the tank or in your installer's paperwork, and the current level comes from the gauge or a dipstick reading. Round down so you don't order more than the tank can take, and ask your supplier how full they will fill it.
